3 Things to do before heading into the dating world!

Updated: Nov 10, 2021

Research: The very first thing to do is to explore all of your options. There are apps, online dating sites, meet-up groups, matchmakers, and the list goes on. The dating world has so many different venues it can be daunting, but well worth the time to research what’s out there!

Prioritize: Before you invest in the many options you have looked into, make sure it matches up with who you are and what you are looking for. Also make sure you have time to invest in the process that you have decided to embark upon. All of the options out there are going to require your attention and you will need to put yourself high on the on priority list!

Present: Once you’ve decided what platform or platforms to use for your adventure into the dating world, now it’s time to put your best foot forward. It’s time to find some recent photos of yourself that you love and to write your profile. When putting together your photo gallery, make sure you look flattering in every picture you post. If you can combine this with recent pictures that also highlight your interests and most attractive personality traits, you’ll have a very powerful photo gallery. No kids, pets, or sunglasses is preferred for your profile photo.Your written profile should tap into the different aspects of who you are as a person. Each paragraph should be a different topic, anecdote, or theme. Craft your profile so that it can be read two ways—it can be skimmed for information, but can also read like a well-written short story. Provide some bait for the reader to ask a question about you. Remove all negativity. Never focus on what you fear about online dating or what you don’t want in a partner. Negative energy always attracts negative attention. When someone approaches your profile it should portray optimism, happiness, and reflect someone who is excited about the future. The more interests, passions, and personality traits you reveal, the more people will be drawn to your profile, and the more likely people will be able to find commonalities with you.

Lastly, always proofread your profile, get second, third, and even fourth opinions, and never be afraid to self-reflect if you’re not getting any responses. Make sure to relax and enjoy this exercise. This is your fun side, you’re a social being and you’re hoping to meet someone to share your life’s adventures with!
